Get on theCouch!

Jobs, a new place to live and lots of discounts - that's what on offer from an exclusive new website to be launched in Brisbane next month.

Wotan Laurindo, Grant Wong, Teddy Makukutu and Chris Khoo have developed theCouch.com.au to provide the service aimed primarily at students.

"It's always hard when you move to a new city or even country as a student," Mr Laurindo said.

"You don't know where to find a job or accommodation and you don't have a lot of money but you want to go out and meet people. theCouch.com.au will provide a one-stop shop for all of these services."

The idea won the team the student category of the University of Queensland Business School's Enterprize competition last year which was sponsored by the highly successful technology incubator - i.lab.

"I think most people are aware how difficult it can be for students starting out," Steve Copplin, Chief Executive Officer of i.lab said.

"It's just great that these young men have experienced that and wanted to do something to help other students. It's also an excellent opportunity for businesses to advertise jobs or discounts to an audience they might not otherwise reach."

"We have had a tremendous response from employers and businesses across Brisbane who see the potential of the website and want to attract students either for work or as customers," Mr Laurindo said.

"Just one use of the membership card at some of the venues offering discounts will pay for it."

theCouch.com.au will be officially launched at UQ on Wednesday March 12, 2003.
